Movie Review: Gone With The Wind

One of my favorite movies is Gone With the Wind.  There are so many chakra elements in it – both in the characters themselves and the events of this tale which takes place during the American Civil Ware in the South. There are many elements in the movie that align with the five chakras, below are some characteristics associated with each chakra that I want to share with you.

  •  Earth /Coccyx Chakra: Tara, the southern plantation in the movie, is where food is grown, parties and dancing take place. It is its own eco-system. The characteristics that represent this chakra are  greed, contentment/fear of loss due to war.
  • Water/Pelvis Chakra: Is represented by the desire and unrequited love (craving) that the main characters have for each other and the turbulent results produced (by a lack of coherence).
  • Fire /Solar Plexus Chakra: Appears in the film represented by  the Civil War where anger and a lack of tolerance (incoherence)are elements of  this chakra.
  • Air/Heart Chakra: The two main characters, Scarlet O’Hara and Rhett Butler, have a passionate relationship (attachment) that eventually turns sour (detachment) and dissolves. Attachment and detachment are two characteristics that define this chakra.
  • Ether/Throat Chakra: The Civil War in America produced grief and a yearning for meaning (the Divine), represented by this chakra.  After the war, death and destruction are what is left and people need grace to start rebuilding a new world.

There are many more Chakra correlations that can be drawn from studying this film, these are just a few.
